How many IVF cycles do you usually need?
In Germany, the success rate is 65% after one cycle (for women under 35 with PGT-A). 80% of women become pregnant within two cycles.
What is PGT-A and why?
Genetic screening of embryos for aneuploidy (Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, Turner syndrome). Only healthy embryos are transferred—this reduces the risk of miscarriage.
Can eggs be frozen at age 35?
Yes, and it is recommended. The storage period is 15+ years. The thawing success rate for vitrification is 95%.
Are unmarried couples accepted?
Yes, in Germany, unmarried couples have the same rights to IVF.
How long does it take for 1 IVF cycle?
4–6 weeks: 2 weeks for stimulation, 1 week for egg retrieval and embryo transfer, 2 weeks to wait for the hCG results.
Is severe endometriosis treated in Germany?
Yes, this is a specialty—laparoscopy combined with IVF. Pregnancy is possible even in stage IV.
Does insurance cover it?
Basic health insurance (OMS/DMS) — no. Some employers in Germany reimburse a portion of the cost.
