Methods treatments

German clinics use all modern approaches, from classical to the latest personalized approaches.

Proton therapy

Pinpoint irradiation of the tumor with a proton beam without damaging the surrounding tissue. Used for brain and eye tumors and in pediatric oncology.

Carbon ion therapy

Even more precise and effective than proton therapy. Used for radioresistant tumors — chondrosarcoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, melanoma.

CAR-T cell therapy

The patient’s own T cells are “trained” to attack cancer cells. A breakthrough for leukemia and lymphoma — a single infusion brings remission in 70–90% of cases.

Immunotherapy (checkpoint inhibitors)

These drugs “release the brakes” on the immune system. Pembrolizumab and Nivolumab are the standard for melanoma, lung and kidney cancer.

Targeted therapy

Drugs aimed at specific mutations (HER2, EGFR, BRAF, BRCA). Selected on the basis of the tumor’s molecular profile.

Robotic surgery

Send us discharge summaries, CT/MRI scans and biopsy results. Within 3–5 days a German professor issues a written report.
Molecular tumor profile

The clinic performs NGS sequencing of the tumor to identify mutations. This is the basis of personalized therapy.
Tumor board

10–15 specialists (oncologist, surgeon, radiologist, pathologist, geneticist) discuss your case and draw up an individual plan.
Main treatment

Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or proton therapy, immunotherapy — according to the tumor board’s plan. Usually 2–10 weeks.
Follow-up examinations

4–6 weeks after treatment — a CT/MRI check, lab tests and an examination. We adjust the maintenance therapy.

Changing oncologist after diagnosis — when is a second opinion worth it?

After a diagnosis, many patients want to be sure the proposed protocol is the right one. A German professor reviews your records and issues a written report, usually within 3–5 days.

What the second opinion covers:

Review of histology, PET-CT and MRI by a specialist in your tumor type
Written report by the professor, in German with a translation
Recommendation on the treatment protocol
An in-person consultation in Berlin if you wish

How quickly can treatment in Germany start?

With a clear diagnosis — as soon as we have your records. Oncology cases are admitted as a priority by all our partner clinics. In especially urgent cases we arrange a priority appointment.

Do I need to bring my medical records with me?

The originals, yes. Before the trip we collect the scans, translate them into German and send them to the professor for a preliminary plan. That saves you 1–2 weeks.

What is a “second opinion” and what does it cost?

A written report from a German professor without you having to travel — from one specialist or from several independent ones.

Does insurance cover treatment in Germany?

State and standard private policies do not. International insurers (Cigna, Allianz, BUPA) cover part of it. We help you deal with the insurer.

Will you help with the visa?

Yes: an invitation from the clinic, proof of payment, Schengen insurance, hotel booking. You book the appointment and attend the interview yourself, following our instructions.

I have already started treatment outside Germany — can I switch?

Yes. German oncologists accept all previous findings and adjust the protocol. Do not interrupt your current treatment — discuss the switch with your treating doctor.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, most VIP rooms have a second bed. Your companion gets a Schengen visa on the clinic’s invitation.
