Why Travel to Germany for Vision Correction?

Laser vision correction is one of the most common ophthalmological procedures in the world. In Germany, it is performed using state-of-the-art equipment, in accordance with strict safety standards, and with a personalized treatment plan. German ophthalmologists are required by law to undergo continuous professional development—this is a legal requirement, not a voluntary choice.

Correction Methods

LASIK is the classic method: a corneal flap is created, the laser corrects the refractive error, and the flap is repositioned. Vision is restored within a day. Femto-LASIK is a more precise version: the flap is created using a femtosecond laser rather than a mechanical microkeratome. There is a lower risk of complications and greater precision. ReLEx SMILE is the latest method: a laser creates a lens inside the cornea, which is then removed through a 2–4 mm incision. No flap is created, there is minimal interference with the cornea’s structure, and recovery is rapid.

Who is it for?

Laser vision correction is recommended for myopia up to -10 diopters, hyperopia up to +4, and astigmatism up to 5 diopters. Patients must be at least 18 years old and have stable vision (no changes for over a year). Corneal thickness determines which methods are available—which is why a preliminary diagnosis is so important.

Cost

Femto-LASIK — from 1,500 to 2,000 euros per eye. ReLEx SMILE — from 2,000 to 2,500 euros per eye. Classic LASIK — from 1,000 to 1,500 euros per eye. Preoperative evaluation — from 200 to 400 euros. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis — the patient returns to their hotel the same day.

Spreebogen Eye Day Clinic

Among Sofortmed’s partners is Augentagesklinik Spreebogen in Berlin, a specialized outpatient ophthalmology clinic certified to DIN-ISO-9001. The clinic performs LASIK, Femto-LASIK, cataract surgery with premium lenses, glaucoma treatment, retinal surgery, and eyelid surgery.

Organization via Sofortmed

Eye treatment does not require a long hospital stay—usually 3–4 days in Berlin are sufficient. Sofortmed arranges preoperative diagnostics, finds comfortable accommodations near the clinic, provides an interpreter, and coordinates postoperative follow-ups (usually the day after and one week after the procedure).
